Ocho horas atrapada con el brazo en un retrete por intentar coger el móvil
Las Naciones Unidas alertan del progresivo aumento de los teléfonos móviles en Asia, mientras se olvidan otro tipo de servicios básicos para el ciudadano. En India hay una media de un móvil por cada dos personas, pero sólo una de cada tres puede acceder a un retrete para hacer sus necesidades. En su vecina China existen 800 millones de móviles. Y una mayor proporción de retretes que en India, sobre todo después de los JJ.OO.
Ambos astros se citaron con Lu Lei, una estudiante china, una aciaga tarde. La chica tenía un móvil y estaba en el retrete usándolo, cuando le sobrevino la tragedia: su teléfono nuevecito acababa en el fondo del inodoro mientras escribía un mensajito de texto. Del inodoro asiático, se entiende.
China tienen una gran ausencia de lavabos donde poder sentarse al estilo occidental, pues la mayoría son del tipo asiático (letrinas turcas, un hoyo en el suelo), una trampa muy dolorosa para el inconsciente que mete el brazo hasta el fondo para recuperar cualquier cosa.
Lu Lei no lo sabía. Pero sabía que su telefono nueva era motivo más que suficiente para bajar al lodo a por él.
“Podía sentir el teléfono en la mugre, incluso toque las teclas, pero mi brazo quedó atascado”
A Lei le dió al principio vergüenza alzar la voz en busca de ayuda, pero después de ocho horas tratando de liberarse comenzó a gritar. Los equipos de emergencia tuvieron que desmontar toda la cabina y picar el hormigón alrededor del inodoro con un martillo neumático.
Mientras tanto la chica, tras horas oliendo los vapores que emanaba el pequeño pozo negro, caía desmayada mientras procedían a su rescate. Incluso le pusieron una toalla a modo de almohada, para que no tuviera que plantar la cara en la sucia loza, que bastante tenía ya la pobre.
Las ventajas del inodoro occidental son incuestionables en este tipo de accidentes…
